Mechanical Testing Services

Under the supervision of the Team Lead of Mechanical Testing Services, the successful candidate will work alongside Engineers and Technologists to provide technical and professional leadership in delivering projects.
• Lead and execute mechanical test projects in accordance with standards such as ANSI, ASTM, CSA, IEC, IEEE, ISO, SAE
• Perform engineering tasks to ensure they are completed to the standards required within the agreed timescales and budget.
• Effectively engage with multiple clients and contractors and to ensure the highest level of customer service is achieved.
• Create technical project proposals to ensure that client requirements are accurately defined.
• Prepare Engineering reports as needed for projects.
• Propose and uphold quality improvements and establish safety-focused test processes and programs.
• Research standards, online material and other sources of information to quickly understand client needs and meet technical requirements.
• Design and build custom test equipment and data acquisition systems when needed under supervision of senior engineers.
• Develop laboratory processes, procedures, and maintenance improvement.
• May be required to attend seminars, courses, meetings, and conferences to address engineering problems in area of expertise.
• Maintain professional relationships with other departments, outside consultants, contractors and suppliers in order to share relevant information and resolve issues of concern.
• Review and align with the broader corporate objectives such as safety, quality and environment management.
Qualifications
• Graduate of Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics degree from a recognized University
• Registration (or ability to immediately register as a Professional engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (i.e., non-British Columbia registrations are acceptable as long as there is an ability to immediately transfer the accreditation).
• Minimum of four years’ experience working in relevant industries, related Co-op experience is acceptable.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience on test set-up and prototyping.
• Broad knowledge of mechanical engineering principles such as strength of materials, machine design, fluids dynamics, thermodynamics, vibration, statics and dynamics and structures.
As part of the selection process, applicants may be required to complete a written test/ assessment and/or a presentation as part of the interview process
