Reporting to the CEO & President, this leadership role is responsible for Powertech’s Hydrogen Infrastructure strategic direction and business growth in products and consulting services. The successful candidate will oversee the Hydrogen Infrastructure Business Unit, including Engineering, Production, and After Sales Support teams, while leading business development, marketing, and innovation initiatives.

Annual Salary: $127K - $160K

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Market Expansion: Support senior management in the development and execution of business plans including sales and marketing strategies, product development, and market positioning for hydrogen infrastructure and engineering services.
- Team Management: Responsible for the ongoing performance of Engineering, After Sales Support and Production to achieve performance targets to deliver projects on time and on budget. Additionally, foster a culture of innovation, creativity, and continuous improvement within the team, ensuring that solutions are developed to meet evolving customers needs.
- Engineering Oversight: Provides strategic and technical oversight across engineering activities to ensure projects are executed safely and in compliance with customer requirements, applicable standards, codes, and organizational policies. This role is accountable for maintaining the integrity and quality of engineering deliverables while enabling teams to perform efficiently and effectively.
- Business Growth: Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the hydrogen industry, monitor market trends, and drive revenue growth.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Industry Relationships: Develop and maintain relationships with industry partners, government groups, and other external stakeholders. Further, to liaise with internal cross-functional teams to deliver on strategic objectives and meet customers’ demands and expectations. Strengthen partnerships with key industry players, infrastructure operators, and explore joint ventures for hydrogen projects.
- Financial Management: Profit and loss responsibility to manage budgets and resources while ensuring financial targets and timelines are met.
- Marketing & Communications: Work with our Business Development team on the creation of marketing campaigns, materials, website content, and social media engagement. Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify areas of growth and expansion.
- Customer Relationships, Satisfaction, & Forecasting: Build long-term action plans for customer satisfaction, manage sales forecasts, and support reporting and analysis.
- Travel & Industry Engagement: Attend client sites, conferences, and industry events to promote Powertech’s services and represent the company. Expected travel up to 5 days/month.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Master’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent is an asset.
- 10+ years’ industry experience in technical leadership, business development, and/or marketing.
- Proven experience leading a diverse technical team in R&D, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of commercial products.
- Demonstrated experience in executing business strategies, helping to drive sales growth, and managing budgets.
- Strong technical knowledge of the clean energy industry, especially hydrogen production, storage, and fueling.
- Expertise in negotiating and closing business deals, developing and managing proposals, negotiating contracts, and analyzing market trends.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Ability to build rapport with senior management, provide expert technical advice, and lead teams through change and growth.
- CRM system experience and implementation experience is an asset.
- Experience with international markets (Asia, Europe) is an asset.
- Experience managing a unionized workforce and production systems (e.g., Toyota Production System) is an asset.
